Music Together® Online
FAQ's and Policies
Do I need musical instruments at home to participate in video classes?
You will not need musical instruments to participate in these classes. You can use your voice and body to make music as well as various items around the home. You can also make musical instruments at home. We will give guidance and ideas during class. If you already have some instruments at home, you are welcome to use them. If you would like to purchase some, you may, but it is not required. Music Together offers instruments in their online store: http://musictogether.com/Store
Do I have to be local to participate? Can I invite "out of town" family and friends to join?
No, you do not have to be local. Any family with children age birth thru 5 years can join in the music making fun! One unique opportunity that online classes afford us is to extend our community. Please invite people you know who may benefit from this worldwide and dynamic curriculum. This is a great way to experience Music Together® with family and friends near and far!
I am concerned about screen time for my child. Are Zoom classes developmentally appropriate?
These online classes are not intended for babies and children to sit in front of and just watch. We know screen time isn’t generally recommended for this age group, but here’s the difference: YOU! When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don’t take it in. They don’t learn from it the same way as when they have the active participation of a caregiver or parent. SO, just like in our in-person classes, you’re still the most important part. Your teacher will be on the screen, you might see their classmates on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of the parent/caregiver with the child and the music making that important grown-ups model that is going to continue a child's music development.
Where do I gain access to the class?
All classes will be run live via Zoom. Zoom meeting links and additional content will be available exclusively through your class's password protected Bongos page. You will receive an email a week prior to class start with access instructions.
We have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and cannot pay full tuition. Can we still participate in Music Together Online?
Yes!!! We are offering two packages of Music Together class experiences to meet the financial needs of families who may still be impacted by the ongoing pandemic. Due to the pandemic, we no longer have scholarship funds available. If your family would like to join, but may still need assistance, please email us at email@example.com to explore further options for participation.
What does Music Together Online look like? Will it work for my family?
Music Together Online classes with StoryTree Music will be conducted with a similar orientation and lesson structure as in person classes. We'll simply be on Zoom. In past online and in-person sessions, we have found that it may take children a few weeks to "settle" into the new routine of music class. We also encourage caregivers to play the music at home in between classes. Try "Extended Play" suggestions from class during the week. Participation from important grown-ups will greatly help in engaging children as they look to their caregivers as their first teachers. Families are also encouraged to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further suggestions to engage children musically. Please see policies below for refund information.
