FAQ's and Policies
Do I need musical instruments at home to participate in video classes?
You will not need musical instruments to participate in these classes. You can use your voice and body to make music as well as various items around the home. You can also make musical instruments at home. If you already have some instruments at home, you are welcome to use them. If you would like to purchase some, you may, but it is not required. Music Together offers instruments in their online store: http://musictogether.com/Store
Do I have to be local to participate? Can I invite "out of town" family and friends to join?
No, you do not have to be local. Any family with children age birth thru 5 years can join in the music making fun! One unique opportunity that online classes afford us is to extend our community. Please invite people you know who may benefit from this worldwide and dynamic curriculum. This is a great way to experience Music Together® with family and friends near and far!
I am concerned about screen time for my little one. Are these videos developmentally appropriate?
These video classes are not intended for babies and children to sit in front of and watch. We know screen time isn’t generally recommended for this age group, but here’s the difference: YOU! When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don’t take it in. They don’t learn from it the same way as when they have the active participation of a caregiver or parent. SO, just like in our classes, you’re still the most important part. Your teacher will be on the screen, you might see their classmates on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of the parent/caregiver with the child and the music making that important grown-ups model that is going to continue a child's music development.
Where do I gain access to the class content and how long can I access it?
All class content and bonus content will be available exclusively through our "Maracas Families" private Facebook page. All content will be available thru June 30, 2020. After that date, video access will be removed from the group and the group will be archived.
We have been financially impacted by COVID-19 and cannot pay full tuition. Can we still participate in Music Together Online?
Yes!!! Resources are available to offer scholarships to families in need. Please email for special registration instructions.
What does Music Together Online look like? Will it work for my family?
Starting April 1st, we will be posting sample videos to our main Facebook page, to give you an idea of what the format will be like. Please keep in mind that although the delivery is very different from our in-person classes, the curriculum of Music Together will stay very much the same. Grown-up participation is essential. While not required, participation on the private Facebook with other families will greatly enhance your experience. Whether in our "in-person" classes or online, what you get out is what you put in.
I do not have a Facebook account. Can I still access the class materials?
While it is highly recommended that you use Facebook to access class content and interact with other families, we can still get the class content to you. Please email to make arrangements.
